Edward Onoja, former Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor has been sworn-in as substantive Deputy Governor of the state.
He was nominated by Gov. Yahaya Bello to fill the position following the impeachment and removal from office of the former Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba.
The ceremony which took place inside Government House, Lokoja attracted party faithful, friends and well-wishers.
However, Achuba has vowed to go to court as he claimed he remains the Deputy Governor. Addressing the press in his private residence in Lokoja, Achuba lamented his treatment like a “common criminal” and berated the whole impeachment process as a sham. The panel instituted by the House of Assembly did not find him guilty yet the House went ahead with his impeachment in disregard for the Constitution, he stated.
Onoja is also the running mate of Gov. Bello in the gubernatorial elections holding in the state on November 16.
