TV personality and owner of Daria Media, Kadaria Ahmed, was recently at the receiving end of the barbs angry Nigerians on Facebook following her comment which impugned on the integrity of a popular social media personality known as Pa Ikhide.
Kadaria Ahmed who just this week anchored the interview of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on a platform known as ‘The Candidates’ on the Nigeria Ttelevision Authority network sought to defend a friend when she seemingly overstepped her bound and drew the ire Pa Ikhide’s friends and followers.
Popular blogger Gimba Kakanda had called out a certain Lola Shoneyin for her hypocrisy in praising Atiku Abubakar when he supported Buhari in the 2015 elections but condemning him now that he was running against Buhari. Using screenshots of the said Lola’s posts in the 2015 campaigns and her present condemnation of Atiku, he wrote “Conscience for sale: the African writers and intellectuals Pa Ikhide has warned us about.
This is a dangerous and manifest hypocrisy: calling someone corrupt when he’s no longer in your team, after describing him as a man with “dignity” when he’s on your side.”
Responding in defence of Lola Shoneyin, Kadaria Ahmed wrote: “With all due respect, I don’t think you know Lola Shoneyin. If you did, you would not impinge her intergrity so easily. Not everyone has a price. Therr are people who actually do things based on conviction. I know this environment makes it hard to believe this is is the case, but sometimes as in the case of Lola, it is so. Quoting a man who was caught fiddling his expenses in America is ironic. Yes your beloved Pa….”
It was the last two sentences of the comment that provoked a storm of reactions from Nigerians who felt Kadaria had gone too far and literally took her to the cleaners. Pa Ikhide himself appeared on the conversation and conclusively dispelled Kadaria’s allegation by publishing a letter of commendation issued by the Office of the State Prosecutor of the State of Maryland in the United States of America thanking him for his cooperation and work in the management of use of credit cards in the Montgomery County Board of Education but this seemed not enough for Kadaria who, inspite of pleas for her to apologize, went ahead to post links of Washington Post which made mention of expenses which Pa Ikhide, the Board’s Chief of Staff at the time, had rectified and for which there was no mention of indictment or even crime.
Pa Ikhide responded to Kadaria thus: “Kadaria, pele. I have no interest in this thread. Just in case there is a human being out there that believes your attempt at slander, please see attached from the Office of the State Prosecutor showing their conclusions about our expense accounts. Where I come from we don’t steal. I retired just this December after 31 years of stellar service and was celebrated in song. I retired as Chief of Staff-Ombudsman to the Montgomery County Maryland Board of Education; one of my portfolio functions was in charge of the internal audit of the school system’s $3 billion account. I am sure you are proud of me. I was retired for exactly one month and I returned to work to now be part of a team running a $6 billion county. Trust me, if I stole a dime of America’s money, I would be in jail, and deservedly so. You should be better than this.”
Responding to Kadaria’s comment, Semiu Ayobami Akanmu launched the attack when he said: “this is sheer display of clique-ism. Lola talked well about Atiku while in APC but now disparages the same man. What changed? Who changed? That is the inconsistency Kadaria is expected to dissect, but because she must rally around a member of her clique and made a silly diversionary attempt, she pushed it on Ikhide’s head. This is intellectual dishonesty.”
Other Nigerians like Emem Alexandra Akpan-Nya weighed in thus: “Unbelievable. You ask Gimba not to impugn someone’s integrity and almost in the same breath, take a poke at Pa Ikhide’s?! Do you even see the inconsistency in what you did here? Wow.”
Damola Ilori was more pointblank when he wrote “Dear Kadaria Ahmed,
After your brilliant interview the other day I think you are a brilliant journalist.
However you are a despicable and vile person.
May God have mercy on your soul.
Other attacks came from angry Nigerians like Emily Osa Iduseri who wrote: “You are a bitter and vile soul. If flowers in bloom were to get a wiff of your essence they would shirvel and die. You are biased to the point of criminality. If I were Pa Ikhide I would sue you, but class over trash every time, he can never descend to your despicable level because it is not in him, unlike you that is so full of it that it teems over!!! Tueh!!!”
Meanwhile, people like Onyedikachi Omeke simply exclaimed: “Another devil discovered – Kadaria”
Adding a twist to the contentious engagement, Ejalen Idahosa Dominion wondered: “Why is it that anyone that comes in contact with buhari always end up been foolish and stupid? This same #Kadaria was a sensible human being until she met with buhari few days ago to interview him.”
Mimi Atedoghu didn’t spare words in showing her feelings: “Kadaria Ahmed I am totally disgusted at such a despicable statement. And you are supposed to interview other candidates when you unwittingly exposed your bias and hypocrisy.
You just dropped several points
You are a nasty person.
I just love Freudian slips. They never fail to unveil evil.
You should be dropped from moderating any political debate.
But there were other Nigerians who felt the need to moderate the attacks and provide some sort of balance. Zainab Abba Haliru expressed surprise: “while I am surprised at the way Kadaria Ahmed came at Pa IkhideIkhide who i love, respect and think is a man of integrity, I still think she is a sensible girl. She is however overly loyal to Lola, who by the way I think cannot make heaven. I have known Kadaria since she was a kid and know how passionately loyal she can get. I know that when she takes another look at that insult she threw at Pa, she will be all apologetic.”
Ojo Maduekwe in his comment exposed Kadaria’s strategy: “Let’s paint Pa bad and shift focus away from Lola. Good job.”
Nk’iru. Njoku analysed Kadaria’s cooment and opined that she was unfit for anchoring political debates: “Yes your beloved Pa…”?
This is quite sad. It’s not just what was said, but how it was said. Very deliberately malevolent. And this is why it is so dangerous.
She is an otherwise brilliant woman, therefore her matter-of-fact tone can easily sway a person/fan who will not stick around long enough to read Pa Ikhide’s rebuttal.
Ms Ahmed should certainly not be moderating political debates. That is the real irony here.
Such a mess.”
Adb Festus Yinka introduced the humorous as answer to the serious: “Now this is where the concept of “village people” starts making sense to some people 😃😃😃
How can you get so much accolades few days ago, people were almost going to tell Rochas to mould your statue and 72 hours after you came to mess yourself up here over some pettiness.
May the Lord be with you.”
Mike Asukwo, famour cartoonist, weighed in thus: “You can’t sit so close to Bubu, look him in the eyes, listen to him speak the way she did, without getting infected by the ‘virus’.”
Abdul Mahmud appeared to have made a mistake in his appraisal of Kadaria: “I praised this Kadaria lady too early a few days ago…”; while Rabi Danladi Idi couldn’t hold back her revulsion: “I can’t describe how disgusted I am by her slander. Not quite a brilliant journalist after all, (because one wouldn’t be selling old and resolved news) and a vile human too. How can she drag Pa’s integrity in the mud. I wish pa would sue!”
Vayo Iphie O’kohlee provided her own counsel thus: “Kadaria Ahmed this is sad. I always admired you from the sidelines. It is okay to make a gaffe in the heat of the moment (although that should then call into question your qualification to dispassionately moderate political discourse); but to keep doubling down with links.
You are too big to be Lola Soneyin’s yeo woman. Come the heck on.
You should be apologizing and not pulling links out of Buhari’s behind.
How you can sacrifice your integrity to voltron for one woman is beyond me.
This is despicable.”
Mike Sule Murray, in his own contributions, made allusion to what obtains in the US when he addressed Kadaria Ahmed: “Impugning a 31 years record of meritorious service and achievement because of a credit card charge mistake…..
Based on your logic, millions of us will be in jail.
I carry an Amazon charge and Gas card.
I’ve mistakenly charged personal items on it and reimbursed after I noticed the error.
Your attempts at impugning his integrity is vile and devious.
An apology is what we should be getting from you; not links if not trust me if you want links, the people on this thread can supply you enough links about YOU to even make you question your own self.
That said Pa Ikhide my love, you really are the best. Your response is sufficient. Thank you for always being you.”
However, James Monday Namo could not be placated and made some revelations: “Utter vile woman she seems to be. I remember reading a dark side of her, penned by someone who is a government official in Taraba state in which he narrated her duplicitous character in siding with marauding herdsmen after a crisis in the state, because she apparently has Fulani connections by birth. I thought that was low, until she plumbed new depths with this despicable attack on the integrity of an upright man.”
The trolling even went into the second day as Akhigbe Samson announced: “Good morning Nigerians
Welcome to #Day2 of #OccupyKadaria. It is apparent that she has personal issues to settle with Pa. Even after posting links that renders her accusations baseless, she’s doubling down. Apparently, she will rather be stupid than admit she’s pushing a vendetta.
This is how you truly demystify people. When you place them on a certain pedestal, they begin to assume that they are infallible. We are glad for occasional stupidity like this. That was how some mumus like Lola Shoneyin preached the PMB Messianic gospel, today, her friend Kadara is the one helping us clear her doubts #atenus
Kadaria, don’t forget the rules. Don’t block or mute anybody. On this one, your PremiumTimes won’t epp you.”
Charles Dennis went fully political: “Oh, Ma’am, you’re a hypocrite? So, I thought you were an unbiased journalist, now I see you’ve proven us wrong. Oh, you’re an APC supporter, yet you’re anchoring the Presidential Election Debate? Let me see your legs there again. Nonsense!”
Vershyma Collins Ornguga wrote: “Kadaria Ahmed, I forgive you for deceiving many with your persona. The real you is bare now and many of us are seeing you better. Dance of shame!! Tueh!!!
After more than three hundred replies to Kadaria Ahmed’s ‘offensive’ comment in over 24hrs, more were still pouring in as Facebook users mentioned their friends to witness what they called the ‘demystification’ of Kadaria.
