Nigeria intends to procure weapons, including fighter helicopters, from Russia to strengthen the ongoing fight against insurgency, banditry and other violent crimes across the country.
Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, made this disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Monday.
President Buhari is currently in Sochi, Russia where he is attending a Russia-Africa summit hosted by President Vladimir Putin. Buhari will meet Putin on the sidelines where weapons purchases, gas production and opportunities in the mining and steel sector among other items, are billed for discussion.
