Ekiti state governor Ayo Fayose has disowned a statement purportedly credited to him saying he would join APC if that would help solve the problems of Ekiti state.
In a press statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor berated the opposition APC in the state and its candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections for spreading falsehood in a bid to suppress reports of the rejection of their candidate former Minister of Solid Minerals Kayode Fayemi by Ekiti people.
The statement read in part “Kindly disregard statement being circulated by members of the APC in Ekiti State that Governor Ayodele Fayose said “If defecting to APC will solve Ekiti problems, he will join APC and nobody can stop him.
“The governor did not and will never make such statement.
“Even when APC was still basking in the euphoria of its electoral success of 2015, Governor Fayose made it abundantly clear then that he will never have anything to do with the party, not to talk about now that the party is nearing its political grave. “
Alerting the public to the tactics of the APC, Gov. Fayose said, “As we approach the July 14 governorship election, it is expected that several lies will be told by the APC and its sinking candidate to confuse the unsuspecting members of the public” and urged Ekiti people to disregard any statement no attributed to the Special Adviser (Communications and New Media) Lere Olayinka or the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Idowu Adelusi.
